Jaw pain

What is jaw pain?

By jaw joint complaints (craniomandibular dysfunction, CMD) we mean the difficulty you may have with, for example: chewing or opening the mouth and very annoying pain complaints that can manifest themselves anywhere (see photo). Causes The causes of jaw joint complaints are diverse. Temporomandibular joint complaints can arise, for example, after an operation or due to overload, but sometimes also spontaneously. Temporomandibular joint complaints are annoying, but not dangerous. In addition to the pain in your jaws when chewing and talking, you may also suffer from cracking jaws, pain in teeth, pain in the chewing muscles, headaches and tooth wear.SplintSome people grind their teeth at night. In addition to wear and tear on teeth and molars, this often causes other complaints such as: headache, muscle pain in the face. This can be prevented with a splint (anti-grinding plate). This plastic plate is slid over the lower and upper teeth. This provides relief to the jaw joint and the patient can no longer slide the teeth over each other.
