Do you continue to suffer from pain when moving? Or do the complaints keep coming back? Have you perhaps already had therapy without the desired effect? Then electrolysis therapy can help you!
PE / EPTE stands for Percutaneous Electrolysis Therapy [PE for short] and is a treatment method specially developed for the treatment of chronic tendonitis of, for example, the knee, shoulder, elbow and Achilles tendon.
If your therapist has diagnosed chronic tendonitis through functional examination and/or ultrasound, he can use EPTE as a treatment method. Under the guidance of ultrasound, your therapist inserts a thin needle at the site of the inflammation or in the overloaded area. The needle is similar to a needle used in acupuncture. This needle will conduct current right into the core of the problem area for approximately 90 seconds. The low-intensity electrical current initiates several processes that lead to tissue repair. This improves blood circulation and changes the PH value (acidity) from acidic to neutral. Both reactions stimulate the production of new tendon tissue.
Tendons generally recover more slowly than, for example, muscles. An overload or inflammation of the tendon can occur in the knee, shoulder and Achilles. Do you have long-term complaints that have been present for more than 3 months? The following conditions are then eligible for PE treatment:
• Pain in the Achilles tendon / Achilles tendonitis (achilodynia)
• Chronic shoulder pain (tennis elbow, lateral epicondylitis
• Pain just below the kneecap, patellar tendon problems, patellar tendonitis, jumper's knee
• shoulder complaints, including supraspinatus tendonitis (the calcifications are treated with ShockWave treatment)
Feyk Hogenbirk is a specially trained muscle-tendon expert and can help you with an effective combination of therapies, such as electrolysis combined with exercises to restore the tendon's load-bearing capacity.
• accurate localization using ultrasound
• healthy tissue is spared
• high success rate
• the treatment is effective very quickly, often with less pain quickly.
After just two or three treatments, it is expected that the pain will be reduced and the load can be slowly built up again. To achieve 100% strain, approximately 6 to 8 treatments must be performed, usually in combination with an exercise program.

Percutaneous electrolysis is an innovative treatment method for long-term, poorly recovering tendon complaints.
Have you had one of these complaints for a long time? Then percutaneous electrolysis could be the solution for you!
Contact gel is applied to the treatment area. Using ultrasound, the therapist can accurately see the correct location to insert the thin needle. You can watch the ultrasound image.
